Kraftwerk set two UK open-air shows for June 2027, at Halifax’s Piece Hall and Cardiff Castle

The presale opened Thursday, Oct 22, at 10 AM UK time. General sale starts Friday, Oct 23, at 10 AM UK time.

Kraftwerk will play two open-air shows in the UK next summer. First, the German group plays The Piece Hall in Halifax on Tuesday, Jun 22, 2027, according to Live Nation UK. The next night, Wednesday, Jun 23, they play Cardiff Castle as part of the DEPOT Live series.

Notably, DEPOT Live founder Nick Saunders called Cardiff “one of just two UK dates,” in comments reported by Nation.Cymru.

How to get Kraftwerk tickets

  • Presale: Thursday, Oct 22, at 10 AM UK time (5 AM EDT). Live Nation UK offers presale registration for Halifax. For Cardiff, the presale runs through depotlive.co.uk/kraftwerk.
  • General sale: Friday, Oct 23, at 10 AM UK time (5 AM EDT). Cardiff tickets go on sale through DEPOT Live and Ticketmaster, per Nation.Cymru. For Halifax, Live Nation UK lists the general sale on its event page.

At Halifax, doors open at 6 PM and the curfew is 10:30 PM. Also, under-14s must come with an adult, and Live Nation does not admit under-6s. However, prices were not shown on the pages we checked.

What the show involves

DEPOT Live describes the show as a mix of electronic music, computer animation and performance art. The band calls it a Gesamtkunstwerk, a “total work of art.” Today, Ralf Hütter and his team lead the live show, according to DEPOT Live.

Hütter and Florian Schneider founded Kraftwerk in 1970 at their Kling Klang Studio in Düsseldorf. Later, their synthetic voices and computerised rhythms helped shape electro, hip-hop, techno and synth-pop, DEPOT Live says.

In recent years, the group has often played art spaces. After a retrospective at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in 2012, they performed at Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Guggenheim Bilbao, Nation.Cymru reports. After that, they received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.

This summer, Kraftwerk also played an open-air concert in Germany for the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, according to DEPOT Live.

More at Cardiff Castle

The Cardiff show sits in a wider 2027 DEPOT Live season at the castle. Dance fans may also note Sonny Fodera, who plays there on Jun 4, according to Nation.Cymru. DEPOT Live and Cuffe & Taylor present the series.
