It is the trio’s fourth leader on the chart, the first for their own label DANSA, and Lykke Li’s first No. 1 on any US Billboard chart.
Swedish House Mafia have a fourth No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Airplay chart. “Happiness Is So Sad,” their single with fellow Swede Lykke Li, climbs 4-1 on the chart dated Oct 24. Billboard reported the move on Oct 19.
The jump followed a 28% rise in plays in the Oct 2-8 tracking week, per Luminate data cited by Billboard.
What the “Happiness Is So Sad” No. 1 means for DANSA
The single is out on DANSA, the trio’s independent label. It is DANSA’s first Dance Airplay No. 1, Billboard says.
The group’s history on the chart spans both models. Their first two leaders came out via Astralwerks/Capitol Records. Those were “Save the World” (seven weeks, 2011) and “Don’t You Worry Child” with John Martin (16 weeks, 2012-13). Their third, “Wait So Long,” led for one week in 2025 on SUPERHUMAN, another of the group’s independent labels. Now DANSA adds a fourth.
In other words, the trio’s last two Dance Airplay No. 1s have both come on labels they run themselves.
The members also chart on their own. Sebastian Ingrosso has logged 13 songs on Dance Airplay, either solo or as half of Axwell & Ingrosso, Billboard says. Meanwhile, Axwell has charted 14, and Steve Angello has four solo entries.
A first for Lykke Li
The song also gives Lykke Li her first No. 1 on any US Billboard chart, according to Billboard. She has placed three albums on the Billboard 200. I Never Learn reached No. 29 in 2014. Wounded Rhymes peaked at No. 36 in 2011, and So Sad So Sexy reached No. 173 in 2018.
Beyond US radio
Outside the US, the song spent a seventh straight week at No. 1 on WARM’s Global Dance Radio chart, Billboard says. That chart tracks plays from more than 200 dance-focused radio stations worldwide.
The single came out on July 30, 2026, as Swedish House Mafia announced on X. It debuted on Dance Airplay in August as the group’s 15th career entry on the chart.
Billboard’s charts dated Oct 24 went up on Billboard.com on Tuesday, Oct 20.
